As the sole Russian-speaking dancer at an exclusive Manhattan strip club, Ani’s manager introduces her to Ivan “Vanya” Zakharov, the spoiled and reckless son of wealthy Russian oligarch Nikolai Zakharov. Vanya parties and plays video games in his family’s Brooklyn house while studying in the U.S. His parents hire his godfather, Toros, and his henchmen, Garnick and Igor, to keep Vanya safe and cover up his misdeeds.

Vanya hires Ani for multiple sex sessions and falls for her. She gets $15,000 to stay with him for a week and pretend to be his girlfriend. Their whirlwind romance culminated in Vanya proposing in Las Vegas. Despite her initial reluctance, Ani agrees once Vanya declares her love. They elope in a little Vegas church.

Shortly after the wedding, Vanya casually says he hopes the marriage will help him get a green card and avoid returning to Russia to work for his distant father. Ani quits her career to marry Vanya, disappointed yet determined. Vanya remains childish and self-centered. Their marriage goes viral on Russian social media, aggravating Vanya’s authoritarian mother, Galina. Toros is ordered to find them and get an annulment while the family flies to the U.S.
