Rachel Ashley in My Cousin Rachel 1952
Character Is A Prostitute
Olivia plays the title role of Rachel in the film “My Cousin Rachel,” based on the book of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. After the death of his beloved (and wealthy) cousin Ambrose, Philip Ashley believes that his new wife, Rachel, killed Ambrose to take his fortune. Rachel has a reputation for being a “loose” woman. Nick Kendall, an old family friend, informs Philip that rumors have circulated that Rachel performs specific “favors” for men in exchange for money. However, when Phillip meets and falls in love with Rachel, he is convinced his suspicions are unjustified. Is Rachel merely attempting to manipulate Philip? Is her goal to seize the estate that Ambrose left to Phillip rather than to herself? Will Rachel kill him so she can get her hands on the money?
